Sannat is a rustic village located in the south of the island of Gozo. It extends from Victoria up to the cliffs forming the southern coastline of the island known as Ta' Ċenċ. Presently it has an overall area of 3.77 square kilometres - i.e. 5% of the total area of Gozo. On the west it is adjacent to the village of Munxar, and on the Eastern side, it is adjacent to the village of Xewkija.
The coat of arms of Sannat was designed for the occasion of the visit of the Prince of Wales which occurred between the 6th and the 10th of April, 1876. It was designed and painted by professor Nikolo' Zammit (1815-1899), who was a doctor, philosopher, architect and painter. This coat of arms consists of a standing bale of wheat with two scythes above it. Zammit was apparently implying that in the past, a lot of wheat used to be grown in Sannat.
The motto of Sannat was most probably written by the Gozitan scholar Lorenzo Zammit Haber (1876-1959) who lived in Xewkija. This motto says:
